How many credit cards can I have?

You can have a maximum of 2 ��سԹ� UK credit cards.

If you already hold an ��سԹ� UK credit card, you can apply for a second one with us. You must not have opened a new ��سԹ� credit card or received a credit limit increase within the past 6 months. And you can't apply for a credit card that you already hold.

Note: you can't transfer your balance between ��سԹ�, First Direct or M&S Bank cards.

You'll need to manage each card separately and make a separate monthly payment for each. Setting up a Direct Debit for each card makes it easier to manage credit card payments without missing a payment and getting charged.

No. You can't transfer balances between two ��سԹ� credit cards, including First Direct or M&S Bank. You can only transfer balances from cards you have with an external provider.

Getting a second card can be both good and bad for your credit score. It all depends on how you manage your cards.

If you keep your balance low and pay your bills on time it will be good. But if you apply for a number of cards and have high balances, go over your credit limit or miss payments it will be bad.

There are a number of other things to think about:

Applying for a second card will be noted on your file at the Credit Reference Agencies. If it's approved, the amount of credit available to you will increase, but it may limit further credit application approvals in the future.

If your application is declined, it could adversely affect your credit score.

Consider if it's the best borrowing option for you and if you’ll be able to make repayments. You could make changes to your existing credit card instead, rather than getting a second credit card.

There are a number of benefits of having a second credit card:

Greater control over your money by keeping different types of spending separate
Transfer balances from other credit card providers to benefit from a lower interest rate

You cannot transfer your credit card limit between two ��سԹ� cards.

Each card has its own limit set by the lender. If you need a higher limit on a card, you can request a credit limit increase for that specific card.

To choose a second credit card, you'll need to review your needs and spending habits.

Consider why you want a second card: for balance transfers, rewards, or to separate spending. You can then compare different cards based on APR, fees and rewards programs.

Balances can’t be transferred from all cards. For example, cards issued by members of the ��سԹ�, including ��سԹ� UK, first direct and M&S Bank, are excluded.

The rate and promotional period we offer will depend on our assessment of your circumstances. At the end of any promotional period, balance transfers and purchases will revert to the standard variable rate.

You must not have opened a new ��سԹ� credit card or received a credit limit increase within the past 6 months, and you must not be applying for a credit card that you already hold.

You won't be able to apply for a credit limit increase for the first 6 months after your card is opened.
